About

In 2014, a proposal was received by the Majlis-e-Shura (Advisory Committee) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, USA, to institute an infrastructure that would provide financial, organizational, and human resources towards the moral education of children. The committee deliberated various methods of providing this structure and moral training based on Sunday school programs already operating within the Community. As a result, a proposal was made that the National Tarbiyat Department, in collaboration with the Nasirat-ul-Ahmadiyya (young girls’ auxiliary) and Atfal-ul-Ahmadiyya (young boys’ auxiliary), set up a syllabus, decide on a governing infrastructure, and pool human resources for the benefit of all children.

Hadrat Khalifat-ul-Masih Vaba graciously approved this recommendation. Thus, with efforts and prayers, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, USA, launched Tahir Academy nationwide.

A Comprehensive Islamic Learning Resource for Children

Tahir Academy’s goal, through in-person and virtual learning models, is for children to build a personal relationship with Allah, the Creator. Our focus is laying down foundational moral values and character building through faith-based instruction. The syllabus focuses on the Holy Qur’an, Salat & Prayers, the Basics of Islam, and the History of Islam. With these subjects, students grow in their foundational understanding of Islam and become better equipped to handle the moral challenges ahead in life.

The Moral Training of Children is of Utmost Priority

The carefully curated syllabus, approved by Hadrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba, emphasizes our children’s Tarbiyat (moral training). Islam emphasizes the fact that morality does not vary by gender; therefore, all boys and girls under the Tahir Academy umbrella receive the same moral and religious guidance. Atfal and Nasirat syllabi were blended to provide a unified experience for all children of the Community. This academic base becomes more potent when it connects with the feeling of belonging and brotherhood/sisterhood in the local mosques. Students interact with peers, teachers, and elders at the mosque. In doing so, they gain an appreciation for the social values of their religion. By attending Tahir Academy, students learn, pray, and play together.

Established Across the United States

Thousands of children from across the country have access to religious education and moral training under the Tahir Academy model. Teachers in over 50 locations are engaging students weekly in faith-based instruction. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the infrastructure shifted successfully to a virtual platform. Dedicated volunteers of all ages and backgrounds give their time to help the next generation of Ahmadi Muslims build their personal relationships with Allah.
